(Not Love) Virus is in the Air

 Love Virus is in the Air

Quarantine and lockdown of Economy;

Isolation and restrictions on autonomy.

Social, cultural, political and economical activities coming to a halt;

Afraid of this coronavirus assault.

But not all are afraid…

Daily wagers and migrant workers still starve in the neighbourhood

As they risk their lives over their livelihood.

Jobs, education and economy grinding under the lockdown’s wheels;

Inequality's Pride & Digital divide, all in disdain to poor's appeals

They all are proving to be the Achilles heels.

It’s been succinctly briefed...

There’s much power in hope, faith and belief;

But false hopes with fake information,

Just going to worsen the situation.

Flaming fake propagandas over real truth of origin,

Death beds out of space, living yearning for oxygen;

Hospitals running out of emergency wards,

Crematorium running out of space

because of dead bodies' hoards,

Kith and kin running out of their loved ones, faith and hope,

Tired of running after God with a stethoscope.

Daily, millions of people go out to find - bread,

God and the space for half-living and full dead;

Alas! They found none, just returned empty handed or misled.

I’ve heard that God saves people with their mystical powers,

I’ve seen God wearing white coats working indefatigably for hours;

I’ve seen God wearing khaki uniforms in their patrolling cars;

I’ve seen God securing easy going of ATMs, networking and food stalls.

Corona knows no religion;

Then why communal tensions even in these conditions.

Racist remarks against North-East folk;

Centre blaming State, State blaming System, System blaming Work,

In between Time continues to run out of clock.

Nationalism, patriotism and humanism turned into a mock.

No good will come from this blame game

in this fatal pandemic frame;

What’s done cannot be undone.

Pyres running out of fuel and wood;

Dead running out of deathbed,

Leaving the living souls for corona and grief to brood.

The lost lives, bereaving wives.

Woeful fathers and mourning mothers;

Families and friends, no longer together.

But what’s done cannot be undone…

Grieving past cannot be vanished;

But with warm sunlight rays, hopes can be replenished.

No one knows what future holds,

Which road it will take, in which shape it molds.

Keeping our hope, values & humanity to uphold.

World, Nations, Celebrities and individuals,

Coming together- holding, keeping put and painting new visuals

Of Beauty keeping sanity tinted with Humanity,

Building back better from the residuals.

What’s done cannot be undone.

No time left to lose, New Normal needs to begun;

But who are the builders?

Maybe it's me? Maybe it’s you?

No! That’s not true.

It’s us, together!

    Amazingly portrayed di. It's quite sad and scary to see where India is today but a ray of hope among us is much needed.
